Lynch Bages (High Mid Shoulder) - 1978 (750ml)

A peppery, herbaceous nose is more reminiscent of a straightforward Cote de Rhone than a classic Pauillac. Soft, straightforward flavors, medium body, and weedy fruit in the lightly tannic finish make for an indifferent wine. It is no secret that Lynch-Bages was off form between 1971 and 1980. The 1978 is one of a number of uninspiring efforts. Last tasted, 6/93.
